At this moment, my weather app says 95 degrees F and feels like 120. How to beat the heat? Danboard has the right idea. I caught him running through the fountain outside our apartment building. Stay cool everyone!

Danboard is pretty great on his own, but put him in front of a wall of small, out of focus lights and something special happens.
The beautiful, out of focus background is called bokeh. Bokeh has been defined as "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light". Using a wide open aperture (small number) increases this effect.
I followed Danboard into the forest yesterday. He really seems to be in his element among the trees. Maybe it's because he is made from cardboard which comes from trees. Or maybe it's because he blends in so nicely. Whatever it is, he appeared to be really enjoying himself. I noticed that he is surprisingly nimble as he hopped onto logs and bravely crossed the streams. Water and cardboard are not a good mix, but that didn't stop him from exploring his surroundings. The poor little guy did get tired along the way, but he found some soft moss and a pine cone to take a rest on. All in all he had a great time, and I think he's already planning his next adventure!
We just launched our new Etsy shop! Teetotelers will be offering handmade screen printed T-shirts and tote bags. Several of the designs are inspired by our original photographs. It's a fun process, and so far the results are turning out great. Additional designs as well as T-shirts we be available soon.
Well shiver me timbers, Danboard has taken to the open seas! I hope he knows what they do to pirates in these parts! More Danboard photos
Despite the fact that we shoveled before we raked, I'm not giving in to the idea that fall is gone. This is the best time of year and I'm not going to let a measly 12" of snow in October ruin it. As I was enjoying a hearty, crisp Sam Adams Octoberfest the other day, I thought about how the autumn motif on the label and the taste itself really reminded me of how great this time of year is. Since it is also so fleeting and, as the Nor'Easter last week proved, unpredictable, I thought I would set up a little photo to remember the feeling. As usual, Danboard always senses when the camera is out!
This little cardboard box is pretty excited tonight! What, you don't know who Morrissey is?! Take a listen here. Who would have thought he would be able to see Morrissey live in Poland? Best part is, the venue is a small, standing room only club. Danboard hates those giant arena shows. Hopefully he will remember his camera!
The rumors are true, Danboard is in Poland. He was a little shy to come out in public at first because he speaks very little Polish. I let him borrow some of my books and he is progressing very well with the language. He is now comfortable mingling with the locals and he can even order a coffee with milk in Polish. He really loves Krakow and looks forward to checking out more of the sights. You can view more of his adventures here.
What do you get when you mix flash and liquor and throw in a little Danboard? Something like this I guess. I was experimenting a little with off camera flash setups. I fired a Nikon SB600 speedlight through 2 liquor bottles at camera right to light up the background. Danbo so the cool yellow and green lights and came running in for some poses. I had to use the pop-up flash on the camera to fill him in. www.baumgartfoto.com
