Danbo Goes Disco!
What do you get when you mix flash and liquor and throw in a little Danboard? Something like this I guess. I was experimenting a little with off camera flash setups. I fired a Nikon SB600 speedlight through 2 liquor bottles at camera right to light up the background. Danbo so the cool yellow and green lights and came running in for some poses. I had to use the pop-up flash on the camera to fill him in. www.baumgartfoto.com
What to do on a snowy day
Finally we got a substantial amount of snow here in central Massachusetts, 16 plus inches to be exact. What to do in such blizzardly conditions? Fortunately, work was out of the question. Why not bake a fresh loaf of bread? Or, at least watch your wife do it. I can barely make toast and ice cubes. The snowblowing could wait until later, so I decided to document the loaf baking process. It's amazing how easy and cheap it is to make a fresh loaf. Not to mention it tastes better than anything you could buy in the store.
Why I Don't Recycle
You have probably never looked at it this way before. A lot to think about isn't it?
Danboard in a Field
Here we see Danboard enjoying the late afternoon sunlight in a grassy field. Normally this time of year he would be in snow over his head, but New England has had a mild winter so far. Watch out for those cow pies Danbo!
Last Evening of 2010
This is how 2010 ended over Pepperell, MA. Not the best sunset of the year, but still a nice scene overlooking the peaceful fields and old stone walls at the corner of Shirley St. and Mason St.
Blizzard of 2010
It was kind of a dud if you ask me. But, since there is only a few more days of 2010 with no snow in the forecast, we might as well make a big deal out of it. Danbo sure seems to enjoy it!
Paris Cinema
I spent a frigid day shooting in downtown Worcester, MA. After a friendly young man offered me some "crack", which I politely turned down, I came across this interesting abandoned theater. Inside the entryway was a dead pigeon and hobo urine.
Second Shooter
Last weekend I was the second shooter at our friends Mike and Natalie's wedding. They are special people and it was nice to help record their memories. I have done a couple weddings in the past, but being the second shooter is nice because it takes the pressure off. You don't have to worry so much about getting "the shot" and can concentrate more on capturing the feel of the day. While there is definitely a need for the formal shots, candids really help you to remember the event. To see more photos of the wedding, please click here.
Another Old Railroad Bridge
I found another old railroad bridge. This one was in Webster, MA. I like this location a lot. I think I will have to come back sometime and explore a little more.
Now that's a "Fun Size"!
I have always wondered why candy bar companies call the smallest of all their products the "fun size". There's nothing fun about that! One bite and it's gone. What would be a "fun size" is a candy bar the size of your head! I guess we can only dream...
Len Scap goes to Princeton, MA
My new friend Len Scap and I went shooting in Princeton, MA today. It was a little chilly, but the scenery was great. Len is a pretty good photographer, I think I can learn a lot from the little guy.
Man or Astro-Man?
One of my favorite bands is coming back for a reunion tour. Space suits, ear piercing sci-fi surf sounds, and a flaming theramin make for one of the best live shows ever. You can't beat the up close and personal feel of the Middle East in Cambridge. I can't wait!
Back to the Future
Not many people travel down this lonely road, so I had to wait about 30 minutes for a car to drive by. I left my shutter open for 25 seconds to capture the headlight streaks.
